ELA and Math Standards The website is currently open now through mid-November for the second window of public feedback on the newly revised ELA and math standards. During the fall of 2014 and spring of 2015, more than 130,000 reviews and more than 20,000 comments were collected on the current ELA and math standards. A team of nearly 50 Tennessee educators and higher education faculty worked diligently throughout the summer of 2015 to evaluate and revise the ELA and math standards. The standards you will review on this website are the revised standards. A Standards Recommendation Committee (SRC) will meet several times this fall to review the revised standards and the resulting feedback collected from this site to make a recommendation about the revised ELA and math standards to the State Board of Education in January 2016. The final reading of the revised standards will be in April 2016, and implementation will take place in the 2017-18 school year.
Science Standards This website is currently open for the first of two windows of public feedback on new science standards. This first window will close in mid-December. Initial revisions to science standards were developed by teams of educators from throughout the state during the fall of 2014 and spring of 2015. These initial revisions are the standards you will find posted on this site. The SBE will work in conjunction with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) to collect all of the comments submitted to this website. Educator development teams will review the website feedback during the winter of 2015 and make additional revisions. Another draft set of standards will be posted in spring 2016 and an appointed Standards Recommendation Committee will make the ultimate recommendation for new science standards to the State Board of Education in summer 2016. Implementation will take place in the 2018-19 school year.
