NOTICE TO APPLICANTS FOR ESL TEACHING POSITIONS
In compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, all applicants for English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching positions must be fluent and competent in the four domains of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking in English. In order to ensure this competency for all ESL teachers in Bradley County, the following procedures will be followed:
Reading: Reading skills will be documented by scores on the required Praxis exams and by a college transcript from an English speaking institution.
Writing Fluency: A writing sample will be produced by the applicant during the interview process on a topic to be determined by the interview team.
Listening and Speaking: A teacher’s fluency in listening and speaking in English will be documented and evaluated during the interview process. The interview team will check for grammatical correctness and for relevant answers to questions posed in judging the level of fluency for both listening and speaking.
